Frequently Asked Questions

  1.  What are the benefits of using a designer?
When using a designer, you can expect to work with a professional who will share with you their knowledge, experience, and "vision" in a creative and cost-efficient way. As designers are not affiliated to any product supplier, they offer an unbiased professional opinion. By simplifying the decision making process, the client saves time and money. This in turn minimizes your stress (of the building or renovation process) and you will then be able to enjoy the experience and excitement of your project. A designer’s expertise will actually save you from costly mistakes. Another benefit is that a designer can present you with a whole array of products that are only offered through wholesalers to design professionals. A designer’s fee is usually a very small fraction of the total price of the job at hand.

  2. What can a designer add to the job at hand?
Designers attend professional fairs to source new items and continually research to keep abreast of changes and new trends. Suppliers regularly present designers with updates on new and improved products available. All this professional knowledge will be available to you resulting in the best design solution to suit your functional and aesthetic needs. This can only result in a well planned and stylish design outcome.

  3. Do I choose a designer with similar style as mine?
You don’t have to search for a designer with similar taste as a good designer will be able to understand your likes and dislikes and package together a design that expresses your personal style. Designers generally are not trying to force through their likes and dislikes.

  4. How do I choose a designer?
Ask friends for referrals, search the web or the yellow pages for one. If choosing a designer from the web, check on the company’s completed projects and references of past clients. If you like the work done, call the designer and have a chat over the phone to find out how the designer can assist you.

  5. How does my company charge?
I charge and hourly design fee.  Being a professional doing the job daily, I am able to get through the job quickly.

  6. Can the designer manage your project and what are the benefits of this?
With project management, systems are put in place to control all aspects of the work to be done. A qualified Interior Designer knows how to orchestrate your project from start to finish. They’ll help meet your design requirements and budget goals. My company would work out a design plan within your budget. After the scope of work has been agreed on, professional tradesmen are called in to quote the job. As soon as the cost has been agreed, a contract would be signed. Renovation work done by my company is carried out on an open book basis and on a cost plus percentage mark-up.
